Lincolnshire's road toll, now at 20, is unusually high |
Three young men have died and a van driver is seriously injured after a road crash in Lincolnshire. The tragedy comes as the county tries to reduce a dramatically increasing road toll.
Twenty people have lost their lives in the first seven weeks of the year.
The latest crash happened about 1900 GMT on Thursday when the three young men were travelling in a Peugeot car which collided with a van.
The collision occurred on the A16 between Boston and Grimsby.
The victims - all aged in their teens or early 20s - were from the Skegness area.
The van driver, from Mablethorpe, is seriously ill in intensive care.
The county's road safety partnership has tried a number of high profile campaigns to reduce the road toll, but this year's toll is the worst start in almost a decade.
Last year 93 people lost their lives on Lincolnshire's roads.
