The number of people killed on Lincolnshire's roads has risen for the second year in a row.

But the county's Road Safety Partnership insists drivers are listening to their message.

Ninety three people lost their lives on Lincolnshire's roads last year, compared to 88 in 2001.

The road safety partnership started in 2000 in an effort to reduce the death toll, after more than 100 people were killed in the previous year.

In 2000, the number dropped to the 70s - but since then it has been steadily increasing.

Staff at the partnership say initiatives for the year ahead will not be decided until April, but it is likely their Safe Young Drivers scheme will continue.

Around 650 young people aged between 17 and 24 completed the free, advanced driving course last year.

Meanwhile the partnership's Driving for Life scheme has also been judged successful.

Around 250 people over the age of 65 took part.

If the partnership can secure the funding required, both schemes will run for another year.
