City crime could drive couple away
A Nottingham woman has said she and her husband may move away from the city after their car was broken into for the fifth time in just 18 months.

In the latest break-in, which was last week, Laura Wallis's handbag was stolen from the boot of her car while it was parked at Woodthorpe Park.

Along with other items, it contained the couple's wedding and honeymoon photos.

Despite having good jobs they are worried crime is driving them out of Nottingham.

Mrs Wallis said: "We have been talking about trying to move out of the city.

"It's people like myself and my husband who seem to suffer from this sort of thing.

"We are law-abiding, hard-working people yet we are always being made to fork out when these things happen."

If we could get them back it would almost be worth it because it would show there are still good people out there

The couple moved to the city a year and a half ago and Mrs Wallis found a "dream job" working at a vets.

But repeated attacks on their cars, often costing hundreds of pounds to repair, have left them looking for a way out.

She said: "We are working towards leaving. It has got to the point where you just do not want to leave the car and cannot park it here, there or anywhere."

In the latest incident Mrs Wallis left her bag in the boot of her car for security but found on her return the passenger door had been forced open.

While it did not contain much money, the bag held photographs and keepsakes from their February wedding and honeymoon.

"These things are of no value to anybody else. If we could get them back it would almost be worth it because it would show there are still good people out there."

The bag is described as being made of denim with two pockets and a zip.
