The centre will have indoor and outdoor ramps |
Plans for an extreme sports centre in Lincolnshire have moved another step forward. The centre for BMX biking, skateboarding and in-line skating is said to be the first of its kind in the country.
The centre will be located on North Parade on the seafront in Skegness.
Paul Johnson of Lincolnshire County Council said the Skegness centre will be an indoor-outdoor multi-wheel sports facility that will be open all year round.
Some concerns
"It will have a range of ramps and surfaces for people to use," he said.
"We have the planning permission and have secured some funding for the project," he said.
Some local residents are worried about the location, but Mr Johnson said most people support the idea.
"We will continue to look for matching funding for the project, which will cost the local authority about 100,000," Mr Johnson said.
Construction is expected to start by the end of the summer.
