Fund-raising for special stadium
A special fund-raising event is being held in Boston to support the town's new 7m sports stadium, which is specially designed for disabled athletes and spectators.

Athlete Geoff Capes and former BBC presenter Sue MacGregor will both be special guests at The Last Lap event on Monday.

Paralympic gold medalist Tanni Gray-Thompson and presenter John Inverdale will also send video messages.

Construction has started on the first phase of the stadium, but around 2m is needed to complete the second phase.

More horses being neglected

Staff at a rescue and rehabilition centre for horses say they are receiving up to 10 calls a day asking for help.

The number of horses being neglected by their owners is rising sharply, according to Bransby Home of Rest for Horses, near Lincoln.

It already cares for more than 250 horses on site with a similar number in foster homes and cannot cope with many more.

Organisers say the bad weather has made the situation even worse and the problem is getting out of control.

Snowstorms caused chaos

Highways officials in Lincolnshire are defending their winter maintenance service after receiving around 100 complaints following last month's snowstorms.

Severe weather conditions, particularly in the east, brought many parts of the county to a standstill.

The council says an intense snowstorm and strong winds made the task of clearing the roads more difficult.

Parking fees to rise

Patients and visitors at three of Lincolnshire's hospitals will have to pay an extra 50p for parking from the beginning of next month.

The changes are being made at Lincoln County Hospital, Boston's Pilgrim Hospital and Grantham Hospital.

Parking fees will also rise by 20p at Louth Hospital.

The increases are aimed at discouraging parking by people who are not using the hospitals.
