Motorway closed by pile-up
A motorway
The M2 had to be closed in both directions
A stretch of the M2 motorway in Kent had to be closed after a three-car pile-up on Saturday morning.

The crash happened at 0735 GMT on the London-bound carriageway near Rochester.

Police had to close part of the motorway in both directions while the scene of the crash, near the bridge across the River Medway, was cleared.

Nobody was seriously injured in the collision.

Kent Police closed off the motorway and the slip road onto the coast-bound side of the motorway near Junction 3.

The motorway was finally re-opened at 1100 GMT but officers said they were expecting delays on the M2 for some time while the backlog of traffic was cleared.

The road links the M25 to Faversham, running through the Medway area of north Kent.
