| Friday, 31 January, 2003, 06:40 GMT Shark awareness campaign launched ![]() The campaign will highlight the plight of sharks A visitor attraction in Hull is launching a national campaign to highlight the dangers faced by sharks as a species. The Deep, which bills itself as the world's only "submarium", is working with The Shark Trust, a charity concerned with the animals' conservation, management and research. Dr David Gibson, director of operations at The Deep, said: "By running this new campaign we are raising awareness of the fact that the shark population is seriously endangered. "It is estimated that 80% of the world's stock has already been depleted. "Our campaign sets out to educate the public about how sharks can be conserved. "We are awarding certificates to those establishments who refrain from selling shark products from unsustainable resources."
