| Sunday, 26 January, 2003, 12:46 GMT Gas compensation promised ![]() Up to 100 engineers worked for days to restore power Powergen says customers in Leicester who lost power will get compensation pay-outs within the next few days. Hundreds of homes and businesses were affected when a burst water pipe leaked into a gas main last month. Almost 100 customers in the Belgrave area are still awaiting damages payments. Powergen says the money should be paid in the near future. Pumped out Jag Kahlon from the company's marketing department said: "The level of compensation is set at �30 for every 24 hours they were without power." The gas supply to more than 1,600 properties in Belgrave failed in early December after water got into a gas main. Six hundred pupils missed a week of lessons at Abbey Primary School after it was also cut off.
