| Wednesday, 18 December, 2002, 10:42 GMT Force drives home drink message ![]() More motorists will be breath tested by police Police in Cumbria are to breathalyse all drivers involved in collisions regardless of blame as part of their ongoing drink driving campaign. More people are also contacting the police with their concerns about people driving under the influence of alcohol. Last year 24 people tested positive for drink driving in the county over the Christmas and New Year period. Sergeant David Irskin told BBC Radio Cumbria they are determined tackle the problem to make roads as safe as possible. True picture "Every driver who is involved in a collision will be breath tested," he said. "It will give us a greater picture of the true level of drink driving throughout the county." Mr Irskin said efforts to tackle drink driving were an ongoing process and were not stepped-up during the festive period. He added: "We won't let up, we do not random breath test, but we do breath tests where it is appropriate "That includes all collisions. If people are reported as driving erratically or if someone calls into Crimestoppers and mentions that a neighbour is drink driving then we will look at it. "We look at all forms of information that come in and treat them with the same level of seriousness. "People have got to realise that drink does not disappear from your bloodstream overnight, it is there the next morning.
