| Tuesday, 3 December, 2002, 08:05 GMT Behaviour order on schoolboy ![]() Police are targeting anti-social behaviour A teenager from West Yorkshire has become one of the first youngsters in the county to receive an anti-social behaviour order (ASBO). The 15-year-old - who cannot be named for legal reasons - was placed on an interim order pending a full court hearing in the New Year. The swift legal action was only made possible by changes to the law which came into force on Monday. West Yorkshire Police applied for the court order against the schoolboy in partnership with Kirklees Council following a spate of incidents in the village of Mirfield. Best behaviour The teenager will return to Dewsbury Magistrates' Court on 6 January next year and has been warned to stay on his best behaviour in the meantime. He faces arrest if he breaks any of the terms of the ASBO. Inspector Joanne Floyd of Dewsbury Community Safety said: "It is important that the community recognises that the police and the council are working in partnership to curtail persistent offenders. "Although the legislation is new, we have seized upon it and will utilise the powers it offers immediately." | See also: 26 Nov 02 | England 19 Nov 02 | England Top England stories now: Links to more England stories are at the foot of the page. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
