Purr-fect ending to Top Cat's travels
Top Cat
Top Cat happy to be back with owner Jayne Manley
An adventurous cat has returned to his Cornish home after an incredible journey across Europe.

'Top Cat' was whisked away to the south of France in March after cat-napping in the back of a neighbour's removal van.

Without a pet passport, he faced spending six months in quarantine.

But his owner, Jayne Manley, took him to stay with friends in Spain until the relevant paperwork was obtained for him to return home.

Ms Manley, who lives in St Neot, near Liskeard, said she was overjoyed to have Top Cat back again.

"It is just wonderful," she said.

"I was so excited waiting for him to come home."

Top Cat's 2000-mile adventure began when he fell asleep in the removal van parked outside his home.

After a 60-hour journey, the 10-year-old Oriental Red ended up 500 miles away in Bordeaux.

Top Cat then took a car ride to the Spanish port of Santander where he was met by Ms Manley, who took him by train to Malaga.

There he stayed with her friend, Heather McClerry.

'Joined friends'

But after seven blissful months spent lapping up the sun until his pet passport was issued, Top Cat is now back in the rather colder climes of mid-Cornwall.

Ms Manley said: "He had a lovely time.

"He sunbathed a lot and often joined friends on the terrace for a drink."

Now boasting his own passport, it remains to be seen whether Top Cat will be tempted by another trip abroad to top up his tan.
