Top Cat ended up in Bordeaux after climbing into the van which was taking items from the neighbour's home in St Neot, Cornwall, to the French city. Now Top Cat's owner, Jayne Manley, is preparing to travel from Plymouth to Santander in northern Spain. There she will be reunited with Top Cat, who is being driven from his temporary home in Bordeaux.
Top Cat would have to spend months in quarantine in the UK if he was returned home straightaway. After dropping her pet off, Ms Manley plans to stay in Spain for a few days before flying home. She said: "By the time I eventually get him home it will have cost me in the region of 750 - which would have bought a lot of cat food." Ms Manley was initially unaware that her pet had travelled to France, and said: "I had a friend looking after the animals who said TC wasn't around. "On Monday we started looking, we couldn't find him anywhere then on Wednesday I get a phone call saying 'we have found your cat, he's in Bordeaux'." | See also: Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top England stories now: Links to more England stories are at the foot of the page. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
