| Wednesday, 20 November, 2002, 09:54 GMT Charles attends Bond spectacular ![]() Charles is president of the Royal Naval Film Charity The Prince of Wales watched a performance by the Royal Navy and the Royal Marines at a charity premiere of the new James Bond film in Portsmouth. The prince was met by a 1,500-strong crowd as he arrived in full naval uniform. Mock machine-gun fire and loud explosions echoed around Portsmouth Harbour as the troops played out a 007 scene. He then watched a special screening of the new Bond film Die Another Day at Gunwharf Quays, as guest of honour of the Royal Naval Film Charity of which he is president.
It ended with a James Bond figure rescuing the presenter. The prince was also treated to an action sequence involving an Aston Martin Vanquish, driven by Hampshire's Top Gear presenter Tiff Needell, while HMS Richmond, Royal Marines and helicopters were also on view. Following the display, the prince met the crowd. He also greeted the Royal Marines band which played themes from the new film which stars Pierce Brosnan and Oscar-winner Halle Berry. The event followed the royal premiere on Monday night at London's Royal Albert Hall, to mark the 40th anniversary of 007. |
