| Tuesday, 19 November, 2002, 15:35 GMT Leeds unveils 'jewel in crown' ![]() The new-look city Square will be unveiled on Thursday One of Leeds' best-known landmarks is to have a spectacular unveiling after undergoing an 11-month �2.5m revamp. City Square has had a complete facelift including new seats and lamps in stainless steel and bronze designs to contrast with the Edwardian bronze statues and plaques. The 99-year-old square will boast a new water feature with sixteen jets rising in a semi-circular pattern directly from the paving, illuminated with coloured lights. The re-opening of City Square will be marked at 1600GMT on Thursday 21 November with the fountain and illuminations being turned on for the first time. Councillor Elizabeth Minkin, executive councillor for the city centre praised the project.
