About 70 passengers were stranded overnight in Barcelona after the bmibaby plane they were due to fly back to East Midlands Airport was damaged arriving in Spain. A bird damaged the nose cone of the jet plane and British Midland, which runs the low cost airline, has had to fly a new part over. It is the second time in a week that a bmibaby plane has had suffered damage from a bird - on Monday one aircraft had to make an emergency landing at Manchester.
But one passenger, Glynn Julian, headteacher of Kirk Hallam's Dallimore Primary School, said they have had little support and had to sleep in the airport. "No one has made it their business to come and tell us what was happening. "We have had to go and find people . "It is dreadful as far as communication is concerned. "If I'd done what they have done to us I would be ashamed." Bmibaby said passengers should get home on Friday evening and has asked Barcelona airport to keep them updated. | See also: 21 Oct 02 | England 25 Jul 02 | Wales 05 Dec 01 | Scotland Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top England stories now: Links to more England stories are at the foot of the page. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
