A home of convenience
Dorset toilet block
This Dorset toilet block sold for 37,000
A disused Victorian toilet block in a Worcestershire town is set to become the newest desirable home in the town.

The building at Top Link, Malvern, has been closed for several years, but plans have been submitted to the local authority to turn it into a one-bedroomed apartment.

Hereford-based architect Rod Robinson has been given the job of converting the convenience.

He said he will try to retain as many original features as possible.

'Neat apartment'

Mr Robinson told BBC Radio Hereford and Worcester: "Without actually moving it in any way, we will be taking out obviously the old partitions but we will do the minimum to get the stairs and actual modern facilities in there.

"It is just going to be a really neat little apartment."

In 1999, a disused toilet block in Edith Walk, Malvern, was converted into the Theatre of Small Convenience - a six-seat theatre officially recognised as the world's smallest theatre.

Meanwhile in September, a public toilet in the heart of Leicester was sold by the city council for 50,000.

And on the Dorset coast, a former toilet block was sold for more than 37,000.

The original asking price for the building at Charmouth was 25,000.
