Man released in Milly inquiry
Amanda Dowler
Milly Dowler has been missing since 21 March
A 47-year-old man arrested in connection with the disappearance of schoolgirl Amanda Dowler has been released on police bail.

The man from Walton-on-Thames in Surrey, was arrested shortly before 1400 BST on Monday.

Amanda, known as Milly to her family and friends, disappeared in March after getting off a train at Walton-on-Thames to visit a cafe with friends.

She phoned her father to say she would be home in half an hour, and was last seen walking home.

Amanda's disappearance has sparked a UK-wide police investigation.

Earlier this month, detectives said they had received about 100 calls within 24 hours of relaunching an appeal for information from members of the public.

Surrey Police also identified several people captured on closed circuit television who may have walked past Amanda minutes before she disappeared.

The camera sweeps an area detectives have pinpointed outside the Walton train station where the schoolgirl was possibly abducted.

A 36-year-old man was arrested in connection with Amanda's disappearance on 16 May in Chertsey, about three miles from the teenager's home.

He was released the following day without charge.

That arrest was followed by another on 13 June when a 52-year-old man from Surrey was detained and questioned by police.

He, too, was released without charge.
