Packing box shack on sale for 60,000
Hut for sale
The shack - or chalet - priced at 60,000
A shack made from packing boxes, and described as a beach hut though it is six miles from the sea, is on the market - for 60,000.

The 55-year-old shack, which measures just 24 feet by 12 feet, sits on a 35ft by 65 ft plot on the edge of the marshes on the River Deben in Waldringfield, Suffolk.

It was built in 1947 from World War II wooden boxes.

The nearest toilet is 300 yards up a hill and a buyer might have to spend another 10,000 on improvements.

Rochdale house
What 60,000 would buy in Rochdale...
It has neither power nor water, but the estate agents are convinced that it will make the asking price for its London owners.

Agents Spicer McColl say the 59,995 asking price is justified because the location is a popular beauty spot.

French house
...in France...

A serious offer has already been turned down because it was too low.

Spokesman Mark Page said: "Property is worth what people are prepared to pay for it.

"The location is idyllic. The area around the marshes and the river is absolutely gorgeous - and that is why the hut was built here."

Bradford house
...and in Bradford.
He described it as more of a chalet than a beach hut.

"You can moor your yacht or dinghy right outside and walk along the river.

"It's a very handy weekend retreat and what price do you pay for that?"

The hut, one of 30 in the area, can only be used as a holiday home.

Mr Page said there had been a lot of interest and added that he expected a city worker to be the most likely buyer.
