First transatlantic flight reaches UK after ash ban lifted

The first transatlantic plane has landed at London's Heathrow airport, after the UK government announced flight restrictions were to be lifted.

The announcement was made after a reassessment of the risk to aircraft from volcanic ash.

It meant that long-haul BA flights, which were already in the air in anticipation of the decision, were able to land at London Heathrow.

The first of these, arriving from Vancouver, landed at Heathrow shortly before 2200 BST on Tuesday.

The BBC's Joanna Gosling spoke to some of the passengers from it.
