The Conservative leader, David Cameron, has welcomed an indication by Gordon Brown that he would be willing to take part in televised debates ahead of the next general election.
In an open letter posted on Labour's website, the Prime Minister said he would "relish" TV and radio debates.
Mr Cameron said the television debate would be a risk to anyone taking part but would be a good way to get people engaged in politics.
