Kirklees council supports review

The leader of Kirklees Council says he fully supports an independent review into dealings between social services and Shannon Matthews' family.

Shannon's mother, Karen Matthews, was convicted on Thursday of kidnap, false imprisonment and perverting the course of justice.

Councillor Robert Light said that in the meantime, the council would "do its utmost to ensure... children are provided with a safe home".
