Large parts of Gloucestershire were badly flooded

Sir Michael Pitt called on homeowners, businesses and others to share their experiences and suggestions for avoiding more floods.

"All contributions will be taken on board and will factor into the review process," he said.

Flooding hit parts of East and South Yorkshire, Gloucestershire, Worcestershire and Oxfordshire.

Sir Michael, who will report to the environment and communities secretaries, said: "I intend to spend time visiting affected communities, talking to residents, local businesses and members of front-line services to get their first-hand experiences.

"In the meantime, I'd like people to log on to the website and share their comments."

The review is to examine why the floods in June and July were so widespread and how to predict and prevent future flooding.

It will also look at the emergency response and the threat to infrastructure.
