The Duke of Edinburgh was sporting a black eye on Monday after slipping in the bath. The Duke, 83, who is in the Ukraine to mark Monday's 150th anniversary of the Charge of the Light Brigade, wore sunglasses at a memorial service.
"He slipped in the bath and caught the side of his eye with his thumb," a royal aide said.
"When people get older they tend to bruise more easily but he said it did not hurt," the aide added.
The Duke is staying in a luxury suite at the Oreanda Hotel in Yalta, where he had his accident.
At a memorial service for the British dead of the 1854 to 1856 Crimean War he laid a wreath for its British victims at an obelisk overlooking the battlefield.
At the Charge of the Light Brigade, scores of cavalrymen died at the "Valley of Death" when they galloped straight into enemy fire after being sent in the wrong direction.
