The man in charge of Nato forces in Afghanistan has said he is planning "radical changes" in the coalition's approach to the conflict.
General Stanley McChrystal says the international forces need to show "resolve and imagination, in some cases" to succeed in their mission.
But his comments came as one insurgent leader said only the "unconditional departure" of foreign troops would lead to peace.
