Pakistan's army is to move against Baitullah Mehsud, the Taliban's top commander in the tribal region bordering Afghanistan.
Baitullah Mehsud has his stronghold in South Waziristan, an area also rumoured to be the hideout of Osama Bin Laden.
Pakistan's army chief, General Ashfaq Kayani, said Baitullah Mehsud, was "not fighting for Islam" and "must be eliminated".
Mike Wooldridge reports.
