Eight dead in Pakistan blast

Police in Pakistan say at least eight people have been killed in a bomb blast in a north-western district of the country, a region where the army is carrying out an offensive against Taliban militants.

Many others were injured in the explosion, which went off in a crowded market in the town of Dera Ismail Khan.

Pakistani forces are also investigating a suspected drone attack in the tribal region of South Waziristan in which three people are said to have been killed.

Mike Wooldridge reports.
