A lawyer for the Burmese pro-democracy leader, Aung San Suu Kyi, says she has been charged with violating the conditions of her house arrest.
It follows an incident last week in which an American man swam across a lake to visit her home.
Benjamin Zawacki is a Burma researcher for the human rights group, Amnesty International. He says the Burmese government may be trying to silence Aung San Suu Kyi before next year's elections.
