Indian police say the siege at Mumbai's Taj Mahal Palace hotel has ended - almost 60 hours after gunmen started shooting at sites across the city, leaving at least 195 people dead and hundreds more injured. Here are events as they unfolded. All times are in GMT. 1004: Maharashtra state chief minister says no evidence that Mumbai attackers are British citizens, Reuters news agency reports. 1000 Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is meeting with military and intelligence leaders to discuss the attacks, AFP reports. 0915: DDeeps tweets: Citizens should be asking accountabilty from 'ELECTED' officials. And city admin. 0905: The BBC's Nik Gowing describes the level of damage inside the Taj Mahal hotel as chilling. Troops are still searching the hotel for people, ammunition and possible booby traps. 0750:moirss tweets: NSG commandos are finally getting into a bus. Job done. 0710: The BBC's Nik Gowing says forensic and pathology experts are at the Taj Mahal, as well as a line of vehicles waiting to collect the dead. 0556:arunshanbhag tweets: Saw three stretchers taken in; after a few minutes 2 empty stretchers were brought back out; 1 ambulance remains by front door. 0525: Associated Press reports that the death toll has risen to 195. 0525: The BBC's Nik Gowing says he was told on Friday that there was a chance that hostages were still inside the Taj Mahal, while gunfire was heard from inside, but was asked not to report the information in case the gunmen were watching television news. 04:40: Reuters reports that the death toll has reached 155 and "still counting", quoting a Mumbai police official. 0436: Police chief JK Dutt urges any remaining guests still hiding in the hotel to make themselves known by opening their curtains "so that our security forces can see inside and make sure there are only guests and no terrorist inside", AFP news agency reports. 0424:harshender tweets: We as common man should create a memorial right near Gateway to show respect and honor to all who died in this attack. 0404:angsuman tweets: "nothing is hard for us" says a commando. There are ambulances, firefighters and more commandos around the landmark hotel, and people are walking freely. 0320: Police say the hotel is "under our control". 0230: After an hour of intense gunfire and explosions, a fire breaks out on the lower floors of the Taj Mahal.
