Six people have died and six are missing after a ferry carrying wedding guests capsized in the Pakistani province of Punjab. The ferry capsized on the Ravi river near the town Mandi Faizabad, 30km west of the provincial capital, Lahore, in the early hours of Friday.
Officials said that six of the 18 passengers were rescued.
Seventeen of the passengers were from the same family, the Associated Press news agency said.
District mayor Tawakul Ullah Virk said the passengers were returning from the wedding ceremony.
The BBC's Shahid Malik in Lahore says the city is connected with the rest of the province by a network of bridges on the Ravi, but villagers in remote areas use ferries for short trips.
Boats are often poorly maintained, overcrowded and rarely carry life jackets.
