 British basketball star, Luol Deng who went to school in the UK and USA
Tomlinscote School in Surrey is one of 45 schools to have won the 'Olympic Dreams Schools Search' and will be part of the special BBC project in the run-up to the London Olympics in 2012. They have been twinned with the former secondary school of Chicago Bulls and Team GB basketball superstar Luol Deng. Over the next 18 months they will follow his and other athletes' stories as they prepare for 2012 with their twin schools. Tomlinscote School Reporter Dayna reflects on how excited her school is to have this opportunity.
Tomlinscote School and Sixth Form College, a leading language college in Surrey, are overjoyed to be a winner in the BBC's Olympic Dreams Competition. Our school will now be twinned with Blair Academy in the state of New Jersey in the US, which is where basketball superstar Luol Deng went to this school between 2001-2005. Headmistress Mrs Johnson Walker said: ''I am delighted that we have been so successful in the Olympic Dreams competition." "It reflects the hard work and creativity of the members who look beyond the classroom to provide exciting opportunities for students at Tomlinscote."  |

Head of careers, Mrs Sutton, who was involved in the application said: "We are delighted to have won and are looking forward to the partnership with the Blair Academy." The PE teacher involved, Mrs Mensah, said: "It's a fantastic opportunity to see how sport is delivered globally." And student Danny, an aspiring ice hockey player who featured in the video, added: "I'm glad that we now have the chance to learn about sports worldwide!"
