A career lesson with a difference

BBC First Click at Doon Academy

Miss Annie Joss, a retired teacher, and Mr James Gilmore, a retired road-gritter, were the interviewees for School Reporters from Doon Academy.

The students asked them about their lives in the 1950s and 60s and were interested to hear about the different attitudes to female teachers and the work that James used to have to do keeping the roads clear during the cold winters.

The students found it a great insight into their lives and were able to follow up their stories with more research on the internet.
