You've got to wonder: why does Tessa Jowell want to hang on?

It will never be the same. Her credibility has gone.

Kevin Maguire
If you're watching in broadband, here's how to find your favourite parts of the latest show.

1201 We're joined by Kevin Maguire of The Daily Mirror, author of the book Great Parliamentary Scandals, and the man of whom Peter Mandelson once said: "Kevin Maguire only wants to cause trouble."

1204 This afternoon, Tessa Jowell will be grilled by MPs at the Despatch Box. They'll be asking about her ministerial responsibilities, rather than her family's labyrinthine finances, but it will provide an indication of the mood among her colleagues. A number of questions remain - we look at a career teetering on the brink.

1206 Tory MP Nigel Evans tells Jenny:
"The Cabinet Secretary looked at it. He said: had she known about the gift, then she should have declared it. The Secretary of State says: had I known the gift, I should have declared it.
And it really is now about the status of the ministerial code. The Prime Minister has to say now whether he's going to keep the Secretary of State or whether he's going to keep the ministerial code. He can't keep both.
And you can't have an emergency exit with the ministerial code as such - whereby you ask nothing, know nothing and declare nothing.
Otherwise of course the ministerial code means absolutely nothing."

1209 We're joined by Home Office Minister - and friend of the Culture Secretary - Andy Burnham. He says:
"If people are saying they've got evidence that Tessa was compromised or conflicted and should have said something she hadn't, then they need to put that on the table."

1216 The Labour government's relationship with the countryside has always been a difficult one. And now the issue's causing trouble again - but from a source that might surprise you. Motorcyle enthusiasts say the latest drive by the Department of the Environment to tidy up the landscape is an attempt to wipe out their hobby. In the jargon, it's about the "nerk" threatening the "boat" - Giles explains what this means.

1220 Our Newsbelt rounds up the issues that are occupying minds in Westminster this lunchtime.

1221 One of the the PM's most-respected advisors on sustainable development has said that nuclear power is not the answer to tackling climate change or solving the UK's energy crisis. The government's independent watchdog, the Sustainable Development Commission, found "no justification for bringing forward a new nuclear power programme at present". Jenny asks the Commmission how they came to that conclusion.

1224 No-one from the government was available for comment on the nuclear issue; however, we're joined by the former environment minister Michael Meacher.
