Cast an eye over the people in charge of our political and financial institutions. Gordon Brown. Mervyn King. Fred "The Shred" Goodwin. I could go on. What do you see? Well spotted - all men. And, to paraphrase another man, what a fine mess they seem to have gotten us all into. So would more women at the top - in business, in banking, in politics, in life - have helped avert this crisis? (yes I hear at least 50% of you holler). Or, to directly quote the Labour MEP Glenys Kinnock: "What if Lehman Brothers had been Lehman Sisters?" It's a question with particular resonance as fears grow - hotly disputed by some - that women are about to bear the brunt of the recession having been absent from the levers of power that caused it in the first place. Women to the fore So we thought we'd hand over the levers of our power to the women. Three female viewers have turned Politics Show reporters to explore the problems ahead for women in the recession, and what needs to be done to help them. And, like economists, no two women share the same view. So there're some interesting arguments and compromises ahead as they try to thrash out a Women's Manifesto to present to the political parties. Among their interviewees is the leading barrister and former Prime Minister's wife Cherie Blair. You'll not be surprised to learn that she has some strong opinions on the matter... Tory take on troubles... Also in the studio this week, doubtless with a few strong opinions of his own, will be the Shadow Chancellor George Osborne. What's his manifesto for getting us out of this fine mess? And will it include clawing back some cash from Fred the Shred and his �650,000 a year pension pot? Cherie and George.
