Hello again

Westminster politics is often accused of being parochial, but no such charge could be levelled this week.

First there's the economy - rocketing demand for oil and food around the world is forcing up prices here, and causing the government an inflationary headache.

Then there's Europe - the Irish no vote continues to reverberate as European leaders meeting at the Brussels summit scratch their heads about the way forward.

And then there's Zimbabwe - as the horrific violence continues ahead of next week's presidential run off, politicians here wring their hands - but could we do more?

Nick Clegg: a Liberal Democrat view

The Lib Dem leader, Nick Clegg, certainly thinks so- he proposed this week that Zimbabwe's access to foreign currency should be cut off.

So bold initiative or a measure that will backfire on a desperate people?

Gillian Hargreaves has been talking to some Zimbabwean exiles in London- including some who run a remarkable outfit - SW Radio Africa.
