Morning after

Politics this week feels a bit like the morning after the night before.

The think tanks have been playing host to a range of Labour ministers and thinkers asking where did it all go wrong.

So is it now time- to torture the metaphor one last time- for the party to wake up and smell the coffee?

The Tories claim the PM is "lurching from one relaunch to another" and although you won't hear the government using the R word, you can bet they're hoping that next week's draft Queen's Speech will put some fizz back into the party.

Affordable housing to figure in draft Queen's speech

One of the things we can expect to hear about in the draft Queen's speech is affordable housing.

House prices have shot up in the last ten years, and the credit crunch means first time buyers are finding it ever harder afford a home of their own.

The Government is reviewing the problem - particularly the lack of affordable property in rural areas.

And the man they have asked to carry out the work is a Liberal Democrat MP.

Gillian Hargreaves has been to Cornwall to investigate.

And it's not just the government who are talking about helping first time buyers.

The Conservatives have signed up television's Kirsty Allsopp as part of their own review into home buying.
