| Role ![]() The Jockey Club proudly displays the slogan "Working to promote public confidence in British racing" on some of its documents. It says it has two key roles within the racing industry: Now it is just a regulatory body, the Jockey Club has four key roles in horse racing in the UK.
Its tasks include setting the rules of racing which everyone must abide by, licensing trainers and jockeys and protecting the integrity of the sport. Remove licences The Jockey Club also has a responsibility to train, approve and advise the Racecourse Stewards, who look after each day's racing. These people have the power to take disciplinary action, usually a suspension or fine, for breaches of the rules. More serious breaches, or incidents requiring further investigation, are referred to the Jockey Club's headquarters for the consideration. Jockey Club Stewards have the power to remove riding licences, suspend jockeys and trainers, warn a rider about future conduct and even impose fines of up to 35,000. |
