Peter Mandelson on 'settled' Labour

Lord Mandelson has told the BBC's Newsnight the majority of Labour Party members do not agree with calls to challenge Gordon Brown's leadership.

The business secretary said he thought the actions of Geoff Hoon and Patricia Hewitt were "a monumental distraction".

He told Jeremy Paxman "the party has reached a settled view. They want Gordon Brown to lead the party into the general election whenever it takes place this year".
