BBC Radio 4's Inside Money has been named Personal Finance Broadcast Programme of the Year at a prestigious event in London.

The Bradford & Bingley awards, now in their 21st year, were presented by B&B chief executive Steven Crawshaw and BBC Television's Sophie Raworth.

The judges praised Inside Money: On the Critical List for tackling the issue of critical illness insurance in a "consumer friendly, interesting way".

Inside Money's sister programmes, Money Box and Money Box Investigates, were jointly awarded the runner-up prize, after the judges decided they could not choose between the two entries.

Reporter Bob Howard was short-listed for the Personal Finance Consumer Newcomer Journalist of the Year.

This is the second year in a row that the Money Box team has scooped the award.

The main Money Box programme took the top prize last year.

The Personal Finance Journalist of the Year title went to Jeff Prestridge of the Mail on Sunday, who was commended for his "clear understanding of his subjects and his ability to provide balanced commentary on all aspects of the personal finance industry".

The Daily Telegraph was named National Newspaper of the Year for its "excellent news delivery, presentation and objectivity".

BBC Radio 4's Money Box is broadcast on Saturdays at 1204 GMT and Money Box Live is broadcast on Mondays at 1502 GMT.
