Ahead of its stock market flotation, Facebook has announced it already boasts over 900 million active users and is on course for its first billion.
It has also emerged that the social network paid $300m (£185m) in cash and the rest in shares to buy photosharing app Instagram for an estimated $1bn (£630m).
In other news, a review of 15 years' worth of studies on the effects of mobile phone by the UK's Health Protection Agency has concluded that they are not harmful to health.
