A Windows back into the past

Features in pre-release Windows 7

Home users may have only just got their hands on Windows 7 but Click has been trying it out for quite some time.

Click's Spencer Kelly chatted to Tom Royal, deputy editor of ComputerActive magazine, in May 2009 about the features in the Windows 7 Release Candidate.

This was a trial version of the software that was somewhere close to being completed.

Tom thought some of the features were very good.

"The task bar for instance - with big buttons down the bottom... it's just a simple way of launching programmes. It does make sense," he says.

On the other hand, Tom says that "shaking the windows to make the other windows disappear is a bit daft, people probably won't actually use it."

He also said that the appeal of multi-touch was "limited", but Microsoft has learnt some tough lessons from Vista.
