This morning Sir David Frost spoke to Former Deputy Prime Minister Michael Heseltine MP about the forthcoming election, the Tory party's reference to Britain becoming a "Foreign land" under Labour and the continuing divisions within the Conservative party on Europe.

Environment Minister Michael Meacher MP and Chief Veterinary Officer Jim Scudamore joined Sir David Frost to talk about the ongoing foot and mouth outbreak. The Chief Vet defended the Government's plan to cull sheep flocks not yet infected by the disease. Michael Meacher said that it would be quite wrong at this stage to call off local Government elections scheduled for May 3rd.

Sir David also spoke to Jackie Mounsey, a farmer in Cumbria and the difficulties she is facing and Richard Burge, Head of Countryside Alliance spoke out against the latest plans to slaughter thousands of healthy animals.

The Duke of Westminster who lived through the last outbreak of foot and mouth disease in 1967, spoke to Sir David Frost about his donation of half a million pounds to help British farmers through the crisis. He said that farmers were the guardians of the countryside and he was delighted that donations were now flooding in from the public.

Liberal Democrat Treasury Spokesman, Matthew Taylor MP, spoke to Sir David Frost from their Spring Conference in Torquay. He confirmed that if elected they would ask for an extra penny on income tax in order to improve education.
