But, Captain Cook's origins, back in Britain, were considerably more humble. The house where he was brought up, in North Yorkshire, is now up for sale. And, even though it's a working farm with sitting tenants, it's provoking a great deal of interest. Captain Cook's home was on the old coast road in Great Ayton. It was from the hills nearby that he got his first sight of the sea. | |
