Mitchell heads US push for Middle East peace

Former Northern Ireland mediator George Mitchell, appointed to deal with the Middle East peace process, has spoken about some of his plans for the future.

Mr Mitchell's appointment was one of two key posts announced by the new administration in Washington. Richard Holbrooke was named as the special envoy for Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The newly-appointed Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton said the men would be tackling two of the most pressing foreign policy issues confronting the United States.
