Twenty-one Egyptians were killed and 33 injured in two separate road accidents south of Cairo, police said. A collision between a minibus and a lorry near the town of Tamiyah in the al-Fayyum governorate killed 16 people and injured seven.
Five others were killed and 26 hurt when a coach heading from Cairo to the Red Sea resort of Hurghada overturned after its front tyre burst.
Egypt has one the highest traffic accident rates in the world.
Police say around 6,000 Egyptians die in road accidents each year.
Fatal road accidents are frequent in a country where many drivers ignore road safety regulations and roads are often poorly maintained.
