In pictures: Launch of the new Mini | The new version of the popular small car is being built at BMW's existing Mini factory in Cowley, Oxford. While the petrol engine for BMW's original Mini was built in Brazil, the new unit is made in Warwickshire. The new Mini looks very similar to the old version, but it is 6cm longer and built on a new platform shared with Peugeot. BMW says building the new Mini at the Cowley plant will create an extra 200 jobs at the facility. Chancellor Gordon Brown was there to meet BMW officials and see the first new Minis leave the production line
