The MTV Music Video Awards have been held in New York, with stars such as Christina Aguilera taking to the stage. Fall Out Boy collected the viewers' choice award for their song Dance, Dance, beating Kelly Clarkson and Shakira. Punk quartet Panic! at the Disco won the prestigious video of the year award for I Write Sins Not Tragedies. Awards show presenter Jack Black spiced up the event, which was held at Radio City Music Hall. Shakira won best choreography for her video Hips Don't Lie - but missed out in six other categories. Beyonce Knowles took best R&B video for Check on It, while Kelly Clarkson's Because of You was best female video. James Blunt was one of the few artists to win two awards, scooping best male video and best cinematography. Jennifer Lopez was among the stars presenting awards on a night that saw nominee Madonna go home empty-handed. The Pussycat Dolls celebrated their MTV Music Video Award for Buttons, which was named dance video of the year. Rock group OK Go decided to use exercise running machines as part of their performance at the ceremony. Justin Timberlake opened the show by performing two songs from his new album FutureSex/LoveSounds.
