Duo Blood 'n' Feathers, aka Lucy Stein and Jo Robertson, are among this year's Beck's Futures nominees. The award celebrates contemporary art in the UK. Seb Patane is among the contenders for the �20,000 prize. His installations mix drawings and sound, and feature obliterated faces. A total of 13 artists are on display at London's ICA until 14 May, including Bedwyr Williams' exhibit of shoes. The shortlisted artists must be 35 or under and UK-based. Daniel Sinsel experiments with materials such as precious stones and horsehair in his paintings. Beck's Futures nominees can work in any medium. Jamie Shovlin's exhibit Lustfaust: A Folk Anthology features material relating to a German 1970s experimental band. Simon Popper's sculpture Borromean features 1000 copies of James Joyce's Ulysses, with the text put in alphabetical order. Olivia Plender is inspired by Japanese manga comics and graphic novels for her socially-aware installations. Inaugurate mixes a scene from Easy Rider with an actor doing a speech by President Bush in the style of a car salesman. Richard Hughes' installations sees the artist use cast-off objects such as bus stops. Stefan Bruggemann's installation Show Titles features 728 proposed exhibition titles. The Beck's Futures winner will be announced on 2 May.
