| Tyson looking fighting fit Mike Tyson poses with Scots great Ken Buchanan Mike Tyson weighed in one-and-a-half stones lighter than opponent Lou Savarese ahead of their Hampden bout on Saturday. At 15st 12lbs, Tyson is giving a lot of weight away to Savarese who weighed in at just over 17st. Tyson looked in excellent physical condition for a man whose preparations for the fight are reported to have been less than ideal. Savarese has insisted that he can defeat Tyson when they meet at Scotland's National Stadium.
He posed for photographs alongside Scottish lightweight great Ken Buchanan and former world champion Mike McCallum, apparently in good spirits. No legend But Savarese believes he can cash in on Tyson's less-than-ideal build-up. "I don't consider Mike Tyson a legend by any means," Savarese said. "I'm not worried. He's a man. He's got two arms and two legs, just like me. I certainly don't consider Mike Tyson to be the greatest." Tyson's Muslim supporters were disappointed on Friday when the boxer failed to turn up at a Glasgow mosque. The fighter, who converted to Islam while he was in jail serving a sentence for rape, had promised to visit the mosque, but fans who turned up were kept waiting. | See also: 22 Jun 00 | Tyson 22 Jun 00 | Tyson 21 Jun 00 | Tyson Top Tyson stories now: Links to more Tyson stories are at the foot of the page. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
