Morocco's bid to host the World Cup actually started 13 years ago when the late King Hassan II first attempted to get the tournament to be held in his country.

This is now their third attempt and, despite the death of King Hassan II, Morocco's latest bid still has royal approval in the form of his son and new King Mohammed VI.

The bid is led by Driss Benhima, a former minister in the Moroccan parliament.

Benhima is also vice-president of Wydad Athletique de Casablanca, one of Morocco's leading football teams.

Morocco have not made great use of their footballers in their bid, but Mustapha Hadji - Coventry City's former African Footballer of the Year - is the team's star player.
