Operation Panther's Claw 'going well'

After five weeks of bitter fighting in southern Afghanistan, British forces have completed their operation to drive the Taliban from a stronghold in Helmand.

Military commanders say the first phase of Operation Panther's Claw has successfully prepared the way for presidential elections to take place in the province next month.

But there have been heavy casualties. Ten British soldiers were killed in the first stage of the military operation in Helmand.

The latest two deaths were announced on Monday evening - their families have been informed.
